This production marks the sixth time Karla and Rick teamed up for this particular show and the first time author Larry Parr attended the musical with the two of them at the helm of the show. Chronicling the life of Hattie McDaniel, the first African-American to win an Academy Award, the musical takes us on a journey of her life from young girl to retired star showing us the perseverance and grit of her fine acting, comedic genius and her musical talent.
